NutriBrew is an Irish fermentation and live culture company founded in 2019, specialising in authentic Milk Kefir Grains, Kombucha SCOBYs, yogurt cultures and sourdough starters for home fermentation.

Based in Limerick, Ireland, our mission is simple: to provide fresh, biologically active cultures backed by genuine fermentation expertise, scientific curiosity and long-term customer support.

Our Story

NutriBrew began under the original KefirGrains.ie brand with a focus on supplying authentic live cultures to home brewers across Ireland. What started as a small fermentation project quickly developed into one of Ireland’s most recognised specialist suppliers of probiotic starter cultures and fermentation products.

Over the years, thousands of customers across Ireland and Europe have used our cultures to successfully ferment milk kefir, kombucha, yogurt and sourdough at home.

In 2024, the NutriBrew brand was officially established to support our expanding educational work, research collaborations and international growth.

Our work has included participation in a collaborative kefir fermentation project associated with the EU-funded MASTER programme, involving organisations including Teagasc, APC Microbiome Ireland and VistaMilk.

The project explored how kefir grain microbial communities adapt and evolve across long-term home fermentation environments by analysing fermentation samples collected over an extended period.
